New Income Opportunities for NAHI Members!

Paul Hayman

Over 100 NAHI members logged in on Thursday, July 31st for Paul Hayman's, Hayman Residential Engineering Services, presentation on new income opportunities in manufactured housing permanent foundation certifications. Paul introduced the concept by describing the need for these certifications: all government guaranteed loans on manufactured housing require these engineering certificates and require them every time the home is sold!
Paul described some of the basics of these foundations, HUD guidelines and most importantly, how NAHI members can work with Paul to provide these certifications. NAHI members would essentially become field agents for Hayman RES and perform a 10-15 minute inspection including taking digital pictures of the foundation. The data is then emailed to Hayman RES and the engineering certificate is completed. NAHI members will earn $100 per inspection, more if the member generates the order himself. Paul is a licensed engineer in 43 states -- this is huge!
Many marketing opportunities exist with this program:
1. Inspection orders initiated by HRES. Home inspectors will be paid $100 (more if mileage charges apply) to perform an inspection in which HRES contact you. HRES's primary marketing thrusts are to large national mortgage companies as well as available state databases who need these done on a regional to national basis. This is the easiest market for HRES to reach. However, it is the smallest market from a local standpoint. The vast majority of these requests for foundation certifications will come from local sources--local mortgage companies and local real estate companies. This is where you can make significantly more money.
2. Inspection orders initiated by you. HRES will pay you $150 for each foundation inspection that is initiated by you. How do you do this? You can market this service locally to mortgage companies and real estate companies. How big you want this to be for your business is entirely up to you. There are thousands of these certifications ordered every year in every state and no one has offered this kind of comprehensive service to the manufactured housing industry before. You could make this a full time business.
3. Increase your home inspection business. Your home inspection business is about visibility. Schedule meetings at real estate companies to tell them about the issues with permanent foundations on manufactured housing and you will increase your overall visibility. Increase your business in this area and I guarantee you your home inspection business will also increase. Market this to banks and mortgage companies and whenever they need a home inspector for any reason, they will think of you.
