NAHI's second webinar, "Persnickety Old Houses…Let's Really Check Them Out!" was another success thanks to presenter Steve Preins, President and Owner of Quality Education Group, Inc. located in Lombard, Illinois. Steve gave a fantastic presentation on old houses and the special care needed when inspecting them. This session concentrated on homes older than the 1950's and included pictures of issues found in bungalows, English Tudors, Victorians, mansions, you name it!
Some of the topics discussed in this presentation included watching out for moisture in renovated basements, asbestos in broken/cracked ceilings, wall and floor tiles, odd locations for important components like electrical boxes in showers and chimney vents in closets, and all sorts of weird things in crawlspaces and attics! Steve stressed the importance of working slower and more diligently due to so many of the unique features and potential safety issues that may be found in old homes.
"Thank you for a great learning experience." -- Kenneth Lee, Brooklyn, New York
"I love this concept, I can attend and still inspect. Great job." -- Ted Hinderer, Middletown, Delaware
"I enjoyed the webinar last night. We have lots of old homes here in Canada and feel that I am on track in my recognition as well as putting into perspective these defects and conditions." -- Michael Kelsey, Bobcaygeon, Ontario
Join Steve for his next presentation on Structural Inspections at the upcoming NAHI National Education Conference, September 4-7, 2008 in Philadelphia!
Thank you to everyone who attended NAHI's second webinar and to our sponsor, American Home Warranty! We hope you'll join us for one of our upcoming webinars.
