Alaska

Alaska Licensure (Enacted 2003)

Alaska home inspectors are licensed by the Alaska Division of Occupational Licensing. Home inspectors may be licensed under two categories: 1) Associate Home Inspector or 2) Licensed Home Inspector. Registration has the following requirements:

Existing Homes

  • Successful passage of either the NAHI CRI Exam or the National Home Inspector Exam

  • Meet education and experience requirements for type of registration sought

New Homes

  • Successful passage of the International Code Council examination

  • Meet education and experience requirements for type of registration sought

The following insurance/bond requirements apply:

  • General liability insurance - $20,000

  • Bodily injury/death (one person) - $50,000

  • Bodily injury/death (multiple persons) - $100,000

  • Bond - $5,000
