Virginia Certification (Enacted 2001)
Virginia home inspectors are voluntarily certified and regulated by the Board of Asbestos, Lead, and Home Inspectors under the Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation. The following certification requirements apply:

18 years of age

Successful completion of high school or equivalent

Successful completion of 35 hours of approved education AND 100 home inspections OR successful completion of 70 hours of approved education and 50 home inspections

Successful passage of the NAHI CRI Exam or National Home Inspector Exam

Evidence of having obtained general liability insurance with minimum limits of $250,000.
* Membership in good standing of a recognized national home inspection association may exempt some of the above requirement.
