South Dakota
South Dakota Licensure (Enacted 2000)
South Dakota home inspectors are licensed and regulated under the Real Estate Commission. Home inspectors may be registered or licensed. The following requirements apply:
Registered Home Inspector
-
Successful completion of high school or equivalent
-
Successful completion of 40 hours of approved education
-
Successful passage of the National Home Inspector Exam
Licensed Home Inspector
-
Successful completion of high school or equivalent
-
Successful completion of 40 hours of approved education
-
Successful completion of one year and 100 home inspections as a Registered Home Inspector
-
Successful passage of the National Home Inspector Exam
* No insurance requirements apply
