Nevada Certification (Enacted 1997)
Nevada home inspectors are licensed and regulated by the Nevada Real Estate Division. Home inspectors may be certified under three categories: 1) Certified Residential Inspector, 2) Certified General Inspector (commercial), and 3) Certified Master Inspector. The following certification requirements apply:
Certified Residential Inspector

Successful completion of high school or equivalent

18 years of age or older

Successful completion of 40 hours of approved education

Observation of 25 inspection performed by a Certified General Inspector or Certified Master Inspector, or an approved instructor
Certified General Inspector

Successful completion of high school or equivalent
-
18 years of age or older
-
Successful completion of 50 hours of approved education

Successful passage of the National Home Inspector Exam
-
Successful completion of 200 inspections of which 25 must be inspections of commercial structures (3 must be supervised by a Certified Master Inspector)
Certified Master Inspector
-
Successful completion of high school or equivalent
-
18 years of age or older
-
Successful completion of 60 hours of approved education

Successful passage of the National Home Inspector Exam

Successful completion of 400 fee paid inspection, 50 of which must be commercial inspections consisting of four or more units
The following insurance requirements apply:

General liability insurance - $100,000
-
Errors and omissions insurance - $100,000
