Connecticut Licensure (Enacted 2000)
Connecticut home inspectors are licensed and regulated by the Home
Inspection Licensing Board of the Department of Consumer Protection. Home
inspectors may be licensed under two categories 1) Home Inspector Intern and 2)
Licensed Home Inspector. The following licensing requirements apply:
Home Inspector Intern Permit

Successful completion of high school or equivalent

Must be enrolled in Home Inspection Intern Training Program,
which consists of 40 hours of home inspection training

Identify a supervisory inspector who is licensed by the state of
Connecticut
Licensed Home Inspector

Successful completion of high school or equivalent

Have earned a Home Inspector Intern permit and have performed no
less than 100 inspections under the supervision of a licensed home inspector,
ten of which must be under direct supervision

Successful passage of the National Home Inspector Exam
